Debra grew up in Bridgewater, NJ in a large family, and received her LPN degree from Somerset County Technical School. She moved to Hunterdon County in 1995 after starting her nursing career. Her first nursing position was in Family Practice for 7 years with Joel Furhman, MD, the creator of the “Nutritarian diet” and author of many books on fasting and eating for health. This is where her passion for healing through natural means began.
She later returned to school, obtaining her undergraduate education from Excelsior College, and Liberty University. During this time she saw her family grow while also working as an RN in a variety of specialized fields including ICU, Emergency medicine, state prison, and hospice. She then completed her Graduate degree at Regis College in Massachusetts, specializing in Family medicine, returning to where she had first learned to care for people, in Family Practice.
After starting to practice as a Nurse Practitioner she quickly learned that in order to really help people get healthy, she needed to spend more time with people than the 15 minutes that general medicine allows. She is passionate about helping people figure out the root of their health issues, women going through menopause disturbances, as well as those struggling with anxiety and depression.
Debra is an active member of the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM) and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) has completed training in Functional Medicine. Debra and her husband write Christian music in their spare time. They have 6 children and enjoy music, concerts, nature, and photography.
MorningStar Family Health Center serves practice members throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania with options for follow-up telemedicine appointments after an inpatient appointment for practice members outside of those states.
